Mollie (Miller) Small. Devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the age of 87. Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1933, Mollie was the youngest child of the late Edward and Rose (Schanker) Miller. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Carl Small, her sister Sally Royak, and recently by her brother Seymour Miller. Mollie is survived by her sister Ann German of Bal Harbour, Florida; her four children: son Glenn Small and wife Brenda of Edison, New Jersey, son Jan Small of Marlboro, New Jersey, son Steven Small and wife Liliana of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and daughter Gayle Levinson and her husband Alan of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Calvin and Caroline Levinson, and Cheryl Small; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A lifelong New Jersey resident, Mollie lived in Essex, Union, Somerset, Monmouth, and Middlesex counties. She was a 1951 graduate of Hillside (NJ) High School and worked in several administrative roles prior to and after raising her family. Mollie retired with more than 20 years of public service from Monmouth County Division of Social Services in 2004.
Mollie enjoyed bowling, mahjong, and loved to travel both domestically and internationally. She held honor of the Wii bowling high score on her grandchildren’s set.
