Obituary of DIANE PEARLMAN
Diane Pearlman Obituary
Diane Pearlman of Somerset, New Jersey passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, January 7, 2024, after a long illness at the age of 91. She was happily married for 61 years to her husband Ted, whom she met at the University of Wisconsin and married upon their graduation in 1954. Ted predeceased her in 2015.
She was a loving sister of Kenneth Roberts, MD of Mebane, NC, and mother of Sherri Starkin of Lyle, WA, Stephen Pearlman of Asbury Park, NJ and Peter Pearlman of Brick, NJ. Diane treated her son-in-law Don Starkin, and her daughters-in-law Lorraine Pearlman and Monique Pearlman as if they were her own. She was close to all 5 of her grandchildren and their spouses, Daniel and Diana Pearlman, Benjamin Pearlman, Carrie Lane Pearlman and Mike Bruno, Jordan Pearlman, and Jacob Pearlman. She adored her young great-grandchildren, Teddy Bruno and Dahlia Pearlman.
After Ted’s military service in West Germany post college, Diane and Ted settled in Cranford, NJ, where 2 of her 3 children were schooled until college. After stops in Easton, CT and Wayne, NJ, Diane and Ted retired to Wellington, FL, before they returned to NJ to spend their final years and be closer to family. Diane was a nursery schoolteacher, an administrative assistant for several private businesses, a high school teacher, and a homemaker.
She kept in touch with all extended family, never forgetting a birthday or special event. Diane’s book with lists of these events was massive. In her later years, Diane was able to communicate with family and friends through an acquaintance with e-mail. For her final years, she wanted to stay at the final home she and Ted created, primarily because she could never leave her multiple walls displayed with family photographs through all stages of their lives.
Diane had an incredibly strong constitution and will, as she survived a childhood of the Great Depression, losing her father in her young teens, earlier bouts w/ cancer, and a medically induced coma after she was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. She lived a full, complete and happy life, which primarily revolved around her family.
