Obituary of JOAN D GOTTLIEB
Joan Gottlieb (nee Konowitz) of Edison Township passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024.
Joan was born on May 27th, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York where she was also raised by the late Jean and Philip Konowitz. After marrying her now late husband Sherman in 1950, they moved to Edison where they lived for the rest of their lives.
Joan’s greatest accomplishment in life was raising her family, as she was a stay-at home mom for many years. She later worked as a substitute teacher in the Edison Public School system and as a sales associate at Trio Gifts in Highland Park, New Jersey. Her favorite past-time was traveling and she was fortunate enough to have made trips to many countries, including Croatia, England, Italy, Poland, Austria and Africa. Anyone who knew Joan also knew how much she loved cheering on the New York Mets, playing slot machines, and reading.
Surviving Joan is her daughter Jerri (Gottlieb) Shilman and her husband Dan of Jackson, New Jersey, her son Jeffrey and his wife Kathleen of Easton, Pennsylvania, and her son Steven and his wife Barbara of Edison, who she lived with for the latter part of her life. She will lovingly be remembered as Grandma by her grandchildren Allison, Scott, Lori and Matthew and as Nana to her great grand-daughter, Saskia. Joan also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to attend services for Joan at Goldstein Funeral Chapel, 2015 Woodbridge Avenue, Edison, NJ on Sunday, June 30th at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Washington Cemetery, 104 Deans Rhode Hall Road, South Brunswick, NJ.
Memorial contributions can be made in Joan’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
